"The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the Bethany Home met in the living room of the Home, July 5, 1923, the Home having been opened with appropriate exercise July 4, 1923..."
We read this entry in the Minute Book of The Bethany Home, and it is hard to imagine that almost 100 years ago, the Executive Board of Bethany had a vision and mission to build a "Home for the care and infirm[ed] persons and children." God put His hand of approval and protection upon Bethany when Faith Cottage was constructed, and seven widows entered as the very first Residents. Bethany was dedicated and what resulted is 100 years of service and care of individuals in the senior years of their lives.
The Board of Trustees has not wavered from the original vision and mission of serving the elderly. While brick and mortar have been used to build original buildings, modify and renovate buildings, and maintain new and expanded services through these last 99 years, we believe that the celebration of Bethany's Centennial is an opportunity for us to express our gratitude and thanksgiving to God for His many benefits and blessings. Over the next year, leading up to the actual 100th Anniversary of Bethany, we expect to share with you snippets of history, testimonials of individuals' and families' lives that have been touched and changed by Bethany in various ways, acknowledgements of gratitude for what Bethany has meant to both Residents and Staff through these many years, and finally, messages of blessings and perseverance hardly known by other nonprofit, faith-based Senior Living Communities. Please mark your calendars for Sunday, 25 June 2023 as the day that w will gather on the grounds of The Bethany Campus in Statesboro, GA to celebrate the Centennial of the Organization and to pray for God's continued blessings on Bethany as we move into the Second Century of service.
Please continue to remember Bethany in your prayers and we encourage each of you to remain attentive to the celebration to mark this momentous occasion of the beginning of our second 100 years. We hope to see you on Sunday, 25 June 2023, as we celebrate Bethany's Centennial.
